Tree Campus Higher Education

In 2010, Florida International University became the first school in Florida to get certified as a Tree Campus Higher Education through the Arbor Day Foundation.

This certification recognizes FIU’s Modesto Maidique Campus and Biscayne Bay Campus for using best management practices to maintain a healthy urban tree canopy and for engaging the university community in environmental stewardship. Annual recertification is earned for these practices as well as an annual Arbor Day observance before recertification is earned.
